巨嘴鸟属（学名：Ramphastos，台湾作鵎鵼属）是啄木鸟目巨嘴鸟科下的一个属。[3]本属物种均分布于拉丁美洲，目前下属8个物种。[3]
命名历史[编辑]
本属瑞典自然学家卡尔·林奈于其《自然系统》第十版内建立的属之一。[4]其模式种后续在1826年由爱尔兰动物学家尼古拉斯·艾尔沃德·维格指定为约翰·弗里德里希·格梅林命名的R. erythrorhynchus，即现今的红嘴巨嘴鸟。[1][5]
其属名Ramphastos意大利科学家乌利塞·阿尔德罗万迪于1599年时的一个拼写错误，阿尔德罗万迪当时引用了瑞士博物学家康拉德·格斯纳描述这种鸟类的长喙而使用了“Rhamphestes”（即古希腊文中长喙的意思），而后该拼写错误被林奈沿用其取其喙形。[6]
